Local shops and facilities
Achiltibuie is the nearest village, 5 miles away. Fresh milk and groceries, fish and seafood are available at the licensed Achiltibuie Stores (www.achiltibuiestores.com) and there is also a petrol and diesel pump. Achiltibuie has a post office, a public telephone box, a gourmet hotel and bar (the Summer Isles Hotel), a hydroponicum (www.hydroponicum.com) and a chapel. The Coigach Community Hall has a library, a doctor's surgery and recreational facilities, including badminton and pool. It also holds regular concerts, ceilidhs and art events.
There is another village shop at Polbain (www.polbain.com) with general groceries and newspapers. There is also the Coigach Craft and Gift Shop at Polbain, which serves tea and coffee, and from which loch and river fishing permits may be obtained. The Smokehouse at Altandhu sells award winning smoked products including local salmon (www.summerislesfoods.com). Ullapool has full shopping facilities if needed.

Eating out
Bar meals with excellent, fresh sea food are available at the Fuaran Bar at Altandhu and the Summer Isles Hotel Bar in Achitibuie. The Summer Isles Hotel (www.summerisleshotel.co.uk) itself is renowned for its outstanding cuisine and has received a Michelin Star award.
